Barking Up The Right Tree: The Sylvari Redesign

As many fans of Guild Wars 2 know, today was the Sylvari re-reveal and let me say WOW! If you haven’t already go read the Anet Blog to get a first hand account of the Sylvari redesign.

I was suprised by how plant-like they made the character’s look while still retaining a humanoid shape. I personally was expecting them to go with a look Kristen Perry described as ‘plant monsters’.

Perhaps what impressed me most was the description of how she grew the Sylvari. It would be interesting to see if she has drawings of a Sylvari in it’s early growth stages. More interesting would be if they animated the growth process and you can see it in game.

After reading the post I left with the impression that all the sylvari will have custom armor that is plant based. This may be a gross misinterpretation so feel free to correct me in the comments.

Finally the remaining questions I have for sylvari week are these

-why humanoid not centaur like?

-what role does gender serve a race that cannot reproduce?

-is there a testosterone/estrogen equivalent in the Sylvari?

-is a sylvari a seedless fruit?

-are Sylvari a negative calorie food thus becoming the vogue for weight conscience dragons?

Eric Flannum answered the armor question. http://www.guildwars2guru.com/forum/showpost.php?p=836054&postcount=434

The Pale Tree learned from the life of Ronan and the wisdom of Ventari so when creating living beings it copied the human.
